Support Vancouver is a directory listing in support of businesses who are affected by COVID-19.
The purpose of this site is to create a dedicated space for individuals to browse and support affected busineses, as such the nature of businesses are limited to small merchants, vendors, artisans who have storefronts and either already have a small eCommerce site or would like to start one. In the last few months since the virus outbreak where collectively as global citizens, our lives have been impacted and dirupted one way or another. I, for one, have found it challenging to grasp the actual severity and long-term affects of COVID-19 fully. I am a new Frontend Developer who has been navigating working from home full-time as of 2 weeks ago. I couldn't help but think, while being fortunate that I am still able to work and make sure my family is taken care of, what I can do as an individual with my current skillset to help. I believe there is a need for a listing as such after coming across forum discussions, social media threads of people asking where they can find a list of local businesses to support. This listing is meant for individuals and families who need to buy consumer goods and would like to directly support these businesses. This is a small project that is inspired by the Support NYC DTC initiative.
Site Continuous improvement
As the list of businesses grows, I hope to move the data to a better system for easier contribution. Contributions to this project technically, conceptually, design or content-wise are welcomed! I will be working out a format for contributing in my next commit.
